Why I Ride, an introspective about life, loss and living.

There are five main personality traits, they say, in this world.  And you can swing to either extreme end of any or all of these to make up your personality: extroversion, agreeableness, openness, conscientiousness,  and neuroticism. In a life t ime, you will meet and notice how some of these traits are dominant in some people, and they may let one or another trait really represent their overall personality.  In the years I've spent on this planet, I have worked in sales and with people for over 18 of them.  I have dealt with more people in my life than most would ever imagine.  Hundreds a day- thousands a week- being in Sales, you kind of become a psudo-psychiatric expert.  People talk, they tell you their thoughts, desires, needs, and you learn what signs certain pe rsonalities throw off.  You begin to be able to read people so well, that you can call their next moves, and guide them to buy what you are selling. Why the lesson in Psychology- I'm reading a motorcycle rid

This year I was fortunate enough to take my vacation during peak summer riding season- like STURGIS season.  The prime time to be out moto-ing on your bike- and I saw so many people I knew across the country because of motorcycles.  I met so many people again this trip across the country, because of my motorcycles.  I can not lend enough credit towards how my life would be COMPLETELY different had I not bought my first Harley and fallen in love with two wheels over 11 years ago... My life is full, and feels complete in so many ways thanks to Harley-Davidson motorcycles, and the community that embraces the true biker lifestyle. I began packing for my trip one week from departure.  I felt pretty solid on my choices.  This time it was a summer trip- NOT October.  It should be warm the whole time, I'll only need one jacket- skip the leather, Shorts, tanks and one cropped hoodie. DONE!  Typical bathroom supplies, and this time, NO HOTELS, so I was prepared to sleep outside for

In a little under a month, I will be riding my 1200 Nightster, Helena, on a 4000 mile round trip to Corvallis Montana, via St Louis and Denver to pick up and chill with my long lost Babes.  The trip home- through Sturgis for pre-parties, just to flip flop to my Ironhead, Breeze, and fly down to Boogie Farm for the Clam Jam!! I am so excited. I can hardly believe it's almost here, and I feel like I got my ticket forever ago! The Rocky Mountain Roll (@rockmtnroll) is obviously a ride to Montana, and through the Northern Rockies.  I'm STOKED as hell to be able to ride my sporty on some good roads! The gal who puts it on, @blindthistle aka Amanda Zito, is super excited to show us a good time in the mountains, and I intend to have one!  The whole event was designed to highlight women riders, even though it IS a co-ed camp out- the focus started by celebrating women riders and their impact on the motorcycle culture- any motorcycle enthusiast who shares a love for the open road wo

Adventures of Breeze 1976 Ironhead XLCH

The rear fender has a huge scrape down to the metal, dent and horrible repaint job, to save from rust.  Like it matters.  It's been running for exactly 3 days.  I wasn't extremely happy with the way the re-pop fender painted up anyway, so when I took the newly named, 1976 Ironhead Sportster , The Breeze, on her shakedown ride, and the sissy bar,  seated in the brackets I had picked up at a swap meet last fall- for a great price AND a great conversation, popped out and I heard a dreaded SSSCCCRRRRRRRRRAAATTCCCHHHHHHHH CHING CHING..... Finally hit dirt  I was mostly upset about the sissy bar itself. It was a heartfelt gift from a very caring and thoughtful boss.  A gift that had sat on a shelf for 30 + years with layers of dust, and was perfect. Flawless and pristine... And I just drug it 5 feet down a shit paved gravel road. Gosh, fricking, darn it!!! (I'm working on my cursing) This wasn't the first thing. This was a careless mistake, the sissy bar was
